Since 1991, Berlin is again the official German capital. Some federal institutions are still located in Bonn, but most of them are now in the Berliner Regierungsviertel. We will visit Reichstag, the Regierungsviertel and Holocaust Mahnmal. Part of this activity might be a talk with German politicians. We will announce more info about this in May/June 2019.

From 1961 to 1989, East Berlin and West Berlin were ideologically and physically divided with a guarded concrete wall. After the border was opened in 1989, the wall was demolished. Only parts of it were kept. We will visit the Berlin Wall Memorial near Nordbahnhof, check out the former border and walk from Ackerstrasse, West Berlin to Alexander Platz, East Berlin.

 

Before WW2, Berlin was one of the most popular queer places in the world. Almost all of its culture was destroyed by the National Socialists.

We are going to visit the "Schwules Museum" in Berlin Mitte, learn about Pre-War Berlin, the German gay rights movement,walk Schöneberg and end the afternoon with a gay bar hopping.

The Strandbad Wannsee is an open-air lido at Großer Wannsee. It is one of Berlins most popular place for relaxing and swimming. We will take the train from Mitte to Wannsee around noon and spend 3 hours at this lake beach. This activity depends on good weather. If the weather is not good enough, we will replace it with a different type of activity in Berlin.
